The Spring Style Reset: Edit Your Closet Like the Woman You’re Becoming
Are you ready for a spring wardrobe refresh? Discover how women 40+ can elevate their style with a refined Spring Style Reset that aligns with their next-level identity.
To me spring cleaning is associated with getting the house ready for spring (cleaning up and cleaning) but that doesn’t feel like the correct description for our wardrobe. It’s more of a refined curation. Spring cleaning is reactive while a spring style reset seems more intentional.
If your closet feels crowded, uninspiring, or slightly… neutral (emotionally or literally), it’s usually not because you lack clothes. It’s because you’ve evolved and your wardrobe hasn’t caught up.
Vision comes first!
Before you touch one hanger, pause and ask yourself:
• Who am I becoming this year?
• What rooms am I walking into?
• How do I want to feel when I enter them?
Effortless?
Commanding?
Polished?
Soft but powerful?
Playful?
Without vision, you declutter randomly and edit strategically.
Edit Like a Stylist (Not a Sentimental Archivist)
When you begin your Spring Style Reset, evaluate each piece through four very chic filters:
1. Color
Does it light up your face?
Or does it whisper, “I bought this on sale in 2010”?
Your most flattering colors are powerful!
When your palette is aligned, everything else becomes easier.
Invest in a color analysis if you haven’t yet. Stop asking AI for the correct results (I’ve heard that a lot in the past until those women decided they want an expert). And I am not just saying this because I am a color analysis expert - I am saying this because I am a HUGE believer in knowing your best colors. I've seen the magic happening over and over with my clients for the past four years (when I became certified in color analysis). It’s truly magical!
2. Proportion
Does the silhouette support your body today?
Or are you emotionally attached to a version of you from another season of life? I turned 50 last year and know this too well - with before and after pregnancy weight and changing shape during perimenopause.
Clinging to things from the past won’t do any favor, it’s rather harmful. It’ s important to dress our current bodies.
3. Fabric & Structure
Certain fabrics work better for certain somatotypes. Always ask yourself those questions, when trying on something new:
Does it drape beautifully?
Does it hold shape?
Does it feel expensive — even if it wasn’t?
Texture and quality are the quiet luxury of style.
4. Identity
Would the woman you are stepping into buy this now?
If not — it has completed its chapter.
Release it gracefully. It might make someone else happy.
Create Your “Power Edit” Section
Create a section in your wardrobe that contains all the pieces that make you feel unstoppable. Be patient building your ‘Power Wardrobe’, it takes time. I’d suggest to start building modules (1 module consists of 2 bottoms, 3 tops and 1 outer layer), which you can add on to anytime: Think of
• Your most flattering colors (#coloranalysis)
• Structured blazers or other elevated third layers
• A silk blouse that makes you feel dangerous (in the best way)
• Modern denim
A shoe that means business
I promise you the minute you open your closet and see only alignment, you move differently. You choose faster. Your confidence grows. You speak with more certainty. This is not superficial. This is energetic architecture.
Style in midlife is not about chasing trends.
It’s about knowing:
• What works
• What flatters
• What communicates authority
• What reflects your personality
